Indoor Children’s Playground Installation at Alfanar, Riyadh

Ebaza Gardens recently completed an indoor children’s playground installation at Alfanar in Riyadh, creating a play area that combines active play, toddler activities, soft play and protective finishes within one indoor space.

The layout was planned around the room rather than simply placing equipment wherever it would fit. Larger play equipment was kept in the main activity zone, while lower-level toddler and soft-play pieces were positioned separately so children could use the space more comfortably. Protective padding was also added around exposed walls and structural columns, with interlocking foam flooring covering the play area.

The finished space gives children several ways to play—from climbing and sliding to imaginative and low-level soft play—while making practical use of the available indoor area.

Scope of Work

The work started with the available floor area, wall positions, columns and circulation routes inside the room. These site conditions influenced where each piece could be placed and how much clear space needed to remain around the equipment.

Ebaza Gardens carried out the playground setup in stages, including:

• Planning the equipment positions according to the indoor layout
• Installing interlocking foam floor mats across the activity areas
• Adding padded protection around exposed walls and structural columns
• Assembling and positioning the main elevated slide structure
• Installing the toddler playhouse and its small slide
• Setting up the modular soft-play activity equipment
• Arranging the different play elements so children can move between activities without unnecessarily crowding one area
• Carrying out final checks after the equipment was assembled and positioned

Particular attention was given to the room’s fixed structural elements. Instead of leaving hard column faces exposed beside the play area, ribbed protective padding was fitted around them and along selected wall sections.

Playground Equipment Installed

Multi-Level Slide Structure

The main active-play feature is an elevated structure reached by a staircase with handrails. It includes four slide lanes arranged as two double slides, with blue and yellow slide sections extending from the raised platform.

Using several lanes gives more than one child access to the sliding activity and makes the larger structure a clear focal point within the room.

Access Staircase and Elevated Platform

A staircase provides access to the upper play deck, with handrails fitted along both sides. Guardrails are installed around the elevated platform to define the upper play area before children enter the slides.

Toddler Playhouse with Slide

A separate plastic playhouse provides a smaller-scale activity for younger children. It includes an enclosed house-style body, open play sections and a short green slide.

Its lower height makes it quite different from the main slide structure and gives the playground another type of activity rather than repeating the same play experience throughout the room.

Modular Soft-Play Activity Set

The project also includes a large circular soft-play arrangement made from padded modular pieces. The set combines low ramps, steps, shaped climbing surfaces and a recessed central play area.

Children can climb, crawl and move across the different surfaces without needing an elevated playground structure, making this section particularly useful for lower-level physical play.

Protective Wall and Column Padding

Bright green ribbed padding was installed around structural columns and selected wall sections beside the activity areas.

This treatment is especially important in an indoor playground because columns and walls cannot always be moved away from children’s circulation routes. Padding provides a softer protective surface where these fixed building elements sit close to the play zone.

Interlocking Foam Flooring

Interlocking foam mats were installed throughout the playground in blue, green, yellow and grey sections.

Besides giving the room a clear children’s-play identity, the flooring creates a softer surface for everyday activities and separates the play environment from the building’s standard hard flooring.

Children’s Activity Furniture

Small children’s tables and chairs were also incorporated into the room, providing space for quieter activities away from the larger climbing and sliding equipment.

This installation turns the indoor area into a multi-activity children’s play zone with slides, toddler play, soft-play elements and protective finishes in one coordinated layout. It improves how the available space is used while giving children different ways to play and making supervision easier for adults.
