Project Description

Some of the best playgrounds we have built did not start as a plan for a playground. They started with a family looking at an empty corner of their villa and asking, “What if the children had somewhere of their own to play?”

That is how this project in Al Mubarraz began. The villa is a beautiful modern home with warm stone walls, tall fluted panels and a quiet side courtyard. The space was elegant, but it was missing one thing: the sound of children playing.

Our team at Ebaza Gardens visited the site, measured the courtyard, and spent time understanding how the family lives. The question was never just which equipment to buy. It was how to turn a few square meters of open ground into a place where children could run, climb, swing and bounce every day without parents worrying.

Scope of Work: How We Built It, Step by Step

  1. Site assessment and layout planning. We began by measuring the courtyard and checking how the space meets the villa walls, the driveway and the surrounding stone borders. We then marked out zones so that active equipment like swings would have generous clearance, while smaller items sat in open areas where adults could easily see them.
  2. Ground preparation. The area was leveled and framed with raised stone edging. This keeps the play zone clearly defined and stops soil and sand from spilling onto the neighboring paving. A properly prepared base also keeps the surface even and helps water drain away.
  3. Artificial turf installation. We laid dense green synthetic grass across the whole play area. In Saudi Arabia’s climate, real lawn struggles with heat, water costs and constant foot traffic. Artificial turf gives a soft, clean, evergreen surface that stays good-looking with very little upkeep.
  4. Anchoring and assembling the equipment. Every steel frame was fixed securely to the ground, and the spring riders were mounted on their own heavy base plates. Our installers checked each bolt, joint and chain connection by hand rather than assuming it was tight.
  5. Final safety inspection and handover. Before we called the job complete, we tested the slide, swing seats, ladders and climbing bars for stability, smooth movement and any sharp edges. We also walked the family through how to look after the equipment over time.

Equipment Installed

The playground was assembled from several complementary pieces, so children of different ages and energy levels each find something to enjoy.

  • Multi-activity play tower with slide: A purple steel tower topped with playful animal and butterfly figures, a crown-shaped panel, an enclosed yellow play deck and a wide red slide for confident sliding.
  • Triple swing set: A strong purple A-frame carrying three seats. There is a red flexible seat, a blue seat and a green bucket seat that gives a younger child safe support.
  • Steel climbing frame: A red-and-green cube-shaped frame with ladders, a net section and cross bars, designed to build strength, balance and coordination.
  • Spring rider horses: Two animal riders, one red seahorse and one green dinosaur-style rocker, each mounted on a heavy-duty spring for gentle, controlled bouncing.
  • Artificial turf surface: A soft, uniform green ground covering that ties the whole play area together visually and underfoot.

Benefits and Advantages of This Installation

A safe play space inside the home. Children no longer need to be taken to a public park. They can play a few steps from the villa door while parents supervise from a window or doorway.

Complete physical development. Climbing builds upper-body strength, swinging develops balance, sliding improves spatial awareness, and bouncing strengthens leg muscles and core control. One compact setup covers all of these.

Play that suits several ages. The bucket swing and low spring riders suit toddlers, while the climbing frame and tower challenge older children, so siblings can play together at the same time.

Low maintenance, year-round use. The turf needs no watering or mowing, and the powder-coated steel frames and UV-resistant plastic parts are chosen to cope with strong sunlight and heat.

Improved look of the villa courtyard. Bright colors set against green turf and neutral stone walls turn an unused corner into an attractive feature of the property, and the evening lighting makes it equally inviting after sunset.

Healthier screen-free routines. Having an engaging play area right at home gives children a natural alternative to hours spent on tablets and phones.

Conclusion

This villa project in Al Mubarraz shows that a playground does not need a huge plot of land to make a big difference. With careful planning, a well-prepared surface and the right mix of equipment, even a modest courtyard can become a safe, colorful place where children build confidence, friendships and memories.

For our team, seeing a finished space like this come to life is the most rewarding part of the work. A quiet corner of the villa is now a place of daily laughter.

FAQs

Do playground slides and swings get too hot for children in Al Ahsa summers?

They can, especially metal and dark-colored surfaces left in direct afternoon sun. In Al Ahsa, where summer temperatures regularly pass 40°C, we choose UV-stabilized plastic for slides and seats and powder-coated frames, and we recommend positioning the slide away from the harshest afternoon sun where the layout allows. A shade sail over the play area is a simple addition that makes midday play far more comfortable.

Can a small villa courtyard fit a proper playground?

Yes, if the layout is planned around clearance rather than equipment count. This courtyard is a modest side area, yet it holds a play tower with slide, a three-seat swing set, a climbing frame and two spring riders. The key is leaving enough free space in front of and behind swings and at the slide exit. We measure the courtyard on site first, then choose equipment that fits.

How do you keep playground equipment from rusting or fading in the Eastern Province?

Powder-coated steel, UV-resistant plastic and regular checks are what keep equipment looking and working well. Wipe down frames occasionally, tighten bolts and chain links every few months, and inspect swing seats and slide joints for wear. Dust is the main everyday issue in this region, and a quick rinse is usually enough. After installation, we show the family exactly what to check.
